I called to get information regarding regulations about surfers surfing where people are swimming. My granddaughters were swimming in the ocean when surfers starting to surf around them and other swimmers. One of my granddaughters was hit in the hit by a surfboard. Fortunately she wasn't injured but she could have drowned had she been knocked unconscious. Since there are no lifeguards at Ocean Isle, I called the police to find out who to report the incident to. The officer I spoke with explained regulations to me and was genuinely concerned about my granddaughter.
My Grandson, age 11 yrs. is deaf but has Cochlear Implants. He was wearing his apparatus and a skull cap to protect them, but a large, powerful wave pulled the cap off and one of the ear pieces. He and his mother called for help to find it. Talk about a needle in a haystack, how about an ear piece in the Ocean. Our family rushed to search as did many vacationers, after being reassured there was no shark! For the next two days, I went up and down the beach asking folks to watch for it, and where our beach house was located. People were so kind. On the 2nd day, I waved over Officer Dustin on his beach buggy and explained our loss, he was so kind and said let's put the information in the system and got information from me. Four hours later, my cell phone rang and it was "Dustin" calling to tell me that the ear piece had been found and turned in. My husband, and I raced to get to our car and drove over to the Police Station. Dustin was waiting for me with the Receptionist and handed me the found earpiece! The man that found it knew what it was and had told them that someone would be needing it and took it to the OIPD station. I was overcome with emotion and so very grateful for the help and the miracle that returned the ear piece to a very grateful grandson & our family. It never would have happened without the help of Dustin and the OIPD and a kind stranger who was also vacationing there. God Bless You! There are so many lovely people in this world!
Thank You for Serving, Helping and Protecting we appreciate it. Stay Safe.
This is our 13th year here at ocean isle beach and the police department is horrible here. They pull anybody in a golf cart over to see drivers license if they look somewhat like a teenager. And guess what? We have proof. As you know I currently run 2 production companies. So we got all the teens with drivers licenses we could find. and stuck em in golf carts. ALL but 1 got pulled over. 17 teenagers got pulled over while following every traffic law their is. We are filing a report later today and leaving a DVD of the video cameras mounted in each golf cart. There will be a law suite involved. We are prepared for this. Don't worry. Also. They have been driving and parking in our neighborhood for the past week. Don't they have something better to do. So unfortunately not only will we file a law suite, we will also no longer visit ocean isle beach any more. Oh, and as of last year, we can't dig holes on the beach...This is ridiculous.
We didn't even officially report our luggage rack getting stolen but my dad mentioned to an officer just in passing. I had already bought a new rack basically writing it off. A couple days later, the same officers my dad mentioned showed up with my stolen luggage rack! I couldn't believe it. Thank you to that were kind enough to go the extra mile!
