We had a destination wedding on August 13, 2017 at Ocean Isle Beach and found Seaside Bakery when looking at different bakers in and around OIB. Carolyn called me up as soon as she received my email and discussed details about the cake. She is extremely professional to work with. We had a fun cake tasting session with her and there were so many options to choose from. She gave us ideas for the wedding cake and I am so happy that we choose Seaside Bakery for our wedding cake. Everyone loved the cake! She is a pleasure to work with. Anyone visiting Ocean Isle Beach, do stop by seaside bakery.
Very nice lady but the baked goods are less than mediocre (I tried cake and cookies). Maybe the wine is where it's at. Too bad, I had hoped for a good bakery in the area. If I were the owner, I'd consider either switching to a wine and cheese bar or hiring a great baker.
We looked up local bakery and found seaside. Met with her and decided she was the one to make our wedding cake. she was energetic and seemed very professional. We chose our cake design (nightmare before Christmas theme) and all the details. The cake was delicious, but however this is where the good review ends. I personally called her the day before to touch base and have us fresh on her mind, she reassured me of how many wedding cakes and deliveries she has done and that she is a professional. However my soon to be in-laws we're at the reception destination 15 mins prior to delivery time and needless to say she was not on time, she was over a hour late and keep in mind it is only a 10 min drive from her bakery to the reception. The next thing that troubles me is the cake was not what we discussed,it was supposed to have purple frosting as borders on this 3tier cake and it was just plain all white minus the 2 figurines and the topper that we supplied. The final thing is that I do not believe for a moment that she actually baked the cake as our wedding knife cake broke trying to cut the bottom layer in which it seems the cake was still frozen. However our wedding and reception was beautiful and went off without any other hiccups. I know I will never use this bakery nor refer anyone else, if anything I'll tell anyone who ask's to stay away, you are better off buying a cake from Walmart.
Great place!! Learned Carolyn Wright moved to OIB to start this bakery after consulting up North for many years. We were celebrating my husband's bday and I wanted a special cake, of course, it was last minute. My luck, she had his favorite, Red Velvet, premade and she decorated it beautifully on the spot with a great beach theme!! It was much nicer than a grocery store cake and worth it, and of course, it was a big hit and tasted great!!! Learned she also sells wines, makes gift baskets, and has other bakery goods. Highly suggest you explore on your next visit to OIB!! We'll be back.
Drove there during open hours but sign on the door said “be back in 5 min”..waited 10 min and left..
